Fullerton was founded in 1887, and is one of the oldest cities in Orange County. It began life as a citrus growing community, and was known for its Valencia oranges. Petroleum was also found nearby, and Fullerton became a center for extracting and shipping petroleum products.

It is home to 2 well-known institutions of higher learning – Fullerton Junior College and California State University, Fullerton. Downtown Fullerton is known for it’s vibrant music scene as well as it’s many upscale restaurants and clubs.

There are many older, established neighborhoods encompassing both homes from the early 1900’s through the 1970’s. New condos and town homes are located on the west end of the city, close to shopping and dining. The Fullerton Civic Light Opera is based at Plummer Auditorium, and Fullerton boasts over 50 public parks.

Public safety is provided by the Fullerton Police Department and the Fullerton Fire Department.
